Stephanie & Jason's Lovebird Wedding

We were so excited to be a part of Stephanie & Jason's wedding this month at the Davis Island Garden Club! They are such a sweet couple and constantly remembered throughout the planning process that it's about them getting married and starting their lives together, and nothing else.

Their wedding was one of the first events at the Davis Island Garden Club with the new white metal fence and arch on the side of the property. It's the perfect entrance for your guests! Stephanie and Jason had a multi-colored scheme of green, blue, brown, and white. Their wedding also had a super cute theme of "lovebirds!" They were everywhere, from origami birds hanging from the gazebo and the trees, to even the napkin folds replicating a bird. It was a warm and humid day, so the beautifully carved sandalwood fans and parasols were definitely used by the guests. The ceremony decor was simple and whimsical, while the cocktail hour patio had a modern, swanky feel. Custom made drapes & cushions, Chinese lanterns, and throw pillows customized the space. To honor of the natural, garden surroundings, Stephanie and Jason opted for raffia bags of seeds for escort favors (stay tuned for a hilarious story about them!). In addition to these favors, the guests also received American Cancer Society bracelets in remembrance of some lost loved ones. The reception centerpieces were rustic, yet modern. They were vases of pussy willows accented with small white flowers. Stephanie is a graphic designer, so she designed all of the stationery and even the votive candles on each guest table that were embellished with their names, date, and of course, lovebirds. The lovebirds continued to make their appearance on top of their cake. We absolutely LOVED their cake topper! It was so precious! At the end of the night, the groom, who is a total photography buff, was surprised with a groom's cake in the shape of a camera, complete with a photo of his beautiful bride on the viewing screen! Amazing!

Stephanie and Jason, thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your day. It was a true joy and blessing! Best wishes for a long and happy life together!

A Weekly Dose of Inspiration!

This week's dose of inspiration comes from architecture, my personal favorite! We are specifically finding inspiration in the infamous Chrysler Building. Designed by Willian Van Alen, between the years of 1928 and 1930, the Chrysler Building is the perfect example of Art Deco style. We've created a design that utilizes the same Art Deco look, as well as an emphasis on vintage glam.

Our design is a vision of Old Hollywood glam! A color scheme of blue, purple, silver, and white is combined with 1920's style. Lighting will be of optimum importance in this look, to create the perfect vintage celebration. Glamorous touches of feathers and crystals are combined with historic and geometric details. For the fashion, a sexy starlet in a silk gown, fur cape, and long gloves will be the center of attention!

The Queen of Cakes & Her Royal Event!

We were so excited to attend the Florida West Coast National Association Catering Executives fundraising event this week! Sylvia Weinstock, the undisputed "Queen of Cakes," joined us and spoke about her talent and her business success. There were, of course, lots of questions about her famous clients, including Donald Trump, Jennifer Lopez, and Catherine Zeta-Jones! Sylvia is one spunky lady and kept the room laughing! The Renaissance International Plaza hosted the event. The food was divine! The room was beautiful with multi-colored color scheme. The flowers were beautiful and even replicated Sylvia's infamous glasses! There was a VIP area with lounge furniture and a yummy candy bar! We had the opportunity to meet Sylvia one and one and chat with her. She even personally autographed her new "Sensational Cakes" book to us!

It was an amazing event and we were so happy to meet Sylvia Weinstock. We are also so proud to be a member of NACE! What a great organization!

A Weekly Dose of Inspiration!

I'm feeling fairly "sunny" today, so this week's dose of inspiration comes from a sunflower! A sunflower exudes joy and cheer, with a rustic overtone. We've created a design that is filled with the same casual, laid back feel and whimsical, "sunny" details.

Our design emphasizes the outdoors, with a rustic elegance. The use of mason jars as candleholders, a clothesline of escort cards, and the menu on a chalkboard, are the casual details that make this wedding unique. Pulling from the sunflower, we used a yellow and chocolate color scheme with touches of white to keep the look crisp. A heavy ballgown and heels would not be the right fit for this wedding, instead flowing cotton gown with flip-flops would be the perfect fit! And of course, the sunflowers would make their appearance in a stunning wildflower bouquet!Country Elegance

Time Out!

In the midst of planning a wedding, it can be easy to forget to take time for yourself. Between guest lists, multiple appointments, and all the decisions that need to be made, it's easy to miss sleep and not eat right. Your body can rebel against you, causing you to be fatigued and even get sick! Doing exercises like pilates and yoga, will increase your energy and relieve tension. You can even combine it with date night and perform your poses together with your fiance. You both will walk away refreshed and relaxed, and ready to tackle that wedding "to do" list!

Forget Me Knot

We came across this adorable line of "Forget Me Not" jewelry. They are designed by Kiel Mead. The designer's intent is to signify the remembrance of someone, so it's a great option to wear on your wedding day in memoriam of a lost loved one. Another translation would be, that you "tied the knot."

They are available in a number of different finishes, even powder-coated.

I especially love the necklace!

The jewelry can be purchased at Areaware.

A Weekly Dose of Inspiration!

This one is for all you shoe-lovers out there!! Our weekly dose of inspiration comes from these Christian Louboutin shoes. This luxury French shoe combines traditional style with a major touch of flair! We've created a design that takes the neutral color and traditional look, and contrasts it with the red and dramatic details.

Our design has an overall traditional feel with the use of ivory and gold, roses, and pearls. We brought in touches of rich red and interesting details that contrast the quiet style. The use of a gown with a pickup skirt is reminiscent of the ribbon detail of the Christian Louboutin shoe. The candlelight and graceful touches bring in the romantic feeling that every wedding should have.
