Erin & Kyle wanted a classic, traditional wedding. The bridesmaids and groomsmen wore red and their style was very simple. Even Erin's dress had a clean, traditional style. The ceremony took place at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Clearwater. Since the church is already so beautiful, the only additions, were a few red pew bows and some swagged white fabric. As Erin walked down the aisle, she carried a family brooch on the base of her bouquet. Utilizing a white and red color scheme, with gold accents, we created a simple style in the reception, that took place at the Holiday Inn Harbourside. White linens and chaircovers with red napkins and sashes, provided by Custom Linens, kept the room looking clean. Gold chargers and red hurricanes created the traditional feel that Erin & Kyle wanted. When she first met with FH Weddings, she told them that she only wanted to use classic roses as her flower of choice. Bouquets consisting of red and white roses and piles of red rose petals accented the entire reception venue. To celebrate the romance between Erin & Kyle, candlelight was everywhere, and light filled the space. Erin and Kyle are serious Florida Gator fans, so in addition to the delicious cake from Chef Nelson, they also chose to do a Gator groom's cake. We had Erin give us lots of Gator "stuff," so that we could decorate the whole table, to really capture their fan-dom! Erin, Kyle, and their guests enjoyed the sounds of Frank Lebano and partied all night!
A special "thank you" to Medley of Memories Photography, who captured all of these great shots!
Erin & Kyle, we know you two are going to have a long and happy life together. Enjoy it!

Southern Wedding Style!
Unique Event Design welcomes our intern and guest blogger, Allie Sparks!
When I say “Southern wedding” I’m not talking about a wedding that happens to take place below the Mason-Dixon Line, I’m talking about a wedding that holds true to Southern traditions. For example, there is a “stand in” bride at the rehearsal, sweet tea is most definitely served at the reception, the groom gets his own cake (and it’s probably red velvet), and the wedding is most likely NOT on a Saturday during college football season. While planning my own Southern wedding, I have found so many wonderful Southern ideas that I wish I could get married 3 or 4 times (to the same wonderful man, of course!).
Location
Having your ceremony under an old oak tree, is not only a gorgeous setting, but symbolizes the couple taking roots, growing together, and having their love last forever.
The oak tree creates a beautiful backdrop and needs very little décor. If you choose, hang chandeliers or paper lanterns from the branches to create a romantic or whimsical feel. Some natural floral arrangements to compliment the beauty of the location, and add a touch of color.
A plantation house, like this one located in Vacherie, Louisiana, not only has history; it’s has a classic, historical beauty that sets the tone and feel of your whole wedding.
It's not hard to find a plantation house in the South to have your wedding; most of them have been restored and are now Bed & Breakfasts or historic landmarks. Having the reception on the lawn just screams "Southern," and with some pretty garden chairs and good food, the old plantation house can add the story of your wedding to its rich history.
The Gulf Coast beaches also provide great spots for a simple chic wedding celebration, like this one at Jekyll Island Club Hotel in Jekyll Island, Georgia. The driftwood on the beach creates an organic, rustic feel.
Food
It’s all about the food at a Southern wedding. Anything fried or sweet (or both) will do! Fried chicken, BBQ, fried green tomatoes, etc are all known as traditional Southern foods. Southerners LOVE their sweet tea and cola, and many brides are now including homemade pies at their reception.
Another fun Southern trend is the potato or grits martini bar (I’m doing this for my own wedding). We, Southerners love our starches, and serving the potatoes in the martini glasses are a modern touch and add so much fun! The Southern grits bar is also very popular being that we like grits at breakfast in the morning or with shrimp for dinner. I went to a wedding a few years ago in Destin, Florida and they had a BBQ pulled pork martini bar – to this day, it’s the best thing I’ve ever eaten!
Attire
Oh, how there is nothing that I love more, than a seersucker suit! It looks so clean and crisp and gentlemanly. I considered having the guys wear them for my own wedding, but since we’re having a traditional church ceremony, we decided to go with tan linen suits to keep a more traditional feel. (See, this is where I wish I had 2 or 3 more weddings of my own)
Also, check out the accessories at Southernproper.com – this tie pattern is one of my favorites and the headband would be such a cute bridesmaid gift!
No matter what Southern traditions you decide to incorporate into your wedding, the key is to keep it personal!
Good luck on planning your Southern wedding y’all!

Kiss & Tell: Julie & Adam
We received these super sweet comments from newlyweds, Julie & Adam!
"I cannot say enough good things about Staci. We were initially on the fence about whether or not we needed a coordinator since our venue came with one, but it was one of the best decisions we made. I honestly don't know what we would have done without her! We hired her for just DOC, but she did SO much more than that. Admittedly, I'm a bit neurotic and I was worried if my 'vision' would turn out but it did and then some. She made all these little touches throughout our reception site that just made it look amazing. We got so many compliments from guests about what a beautiful wedding it was and especially about our cake table, which was all her idea! She did an amazing job, both with organization, handling vendors, keeping me sane and calm, decorating and make our vision come to life. Hire her now!!! I promise you won't be disappointed!"
Julie & Adam, we consider it an honor to be a part of your special day! We wish you two all the best!

A Sunset Seaside Cocktail Reception
Unique Event Design was asked to design a Sunset Seaside Cocktail Reception, utilizing a purple and orange color scheme. This color scheme was pulled from the shades seen during a setting sun. Instead of the typical reception, this couple is more into the cocktail party feel. It's modern, tropical, and sophisticated! The perfect look for your beach wedding design!

Mystical Madness with the Association of Bridal Consultants!
What a great way to start off 2010! Unique Event Design attended the Association of Bridal Consultants January Networking Meeting, which took place at the Treasure Island Yacht and Country Club. We enjoyed a mystical setting with a color scheme of deep purple and green, and exotic arrangements and draping, courtesy of Flowers by Design. Connie Duglin, of course, provided all of the very textural linens, while Premiere Entertainment did a fabulous job of providing all of the lighting effects and a soundtrack, which sounded like it was straight out of the movie Avatar. It created the perfect background to networking and chatting with other ABC members and guests. A special treat for all of the guests was the entertainment provided by The Wise Guys. We had three characters enticing the attendees - one posing as a leafy plant, another as a tropical flower, and a stone bust that was alive! To document this fantastic event, BG Pictures was snapping away, while JJ Video was capturing all of the highlights. It was truly a fun event combined with a great educational presentation by Elise Enloe and Elisa Delgardio about time management and organization.
Take a look! Does it give you any ideas for the design and entertainment for your wedding? It is mystical, don't you think?
